Gymnastics benefits the physical and psychosocial development of children, and prepares them with skills for learning. Arista Frick is a trained gymnast who has been teaching gymnastics to young children for many years. Her program helps children to find confidence, enjoyment and the value of physical activity.
Gymnastics can create a foundation for a healthy and physically active childhood. Strength, flexibility, and balance is improved; while coordination and gross motor skills are developed, and muscle tone is increased. Our age-appropriate, non-competitive program promotes social development as children learn about safety, group participation, and taking turns. Self-confidence and self-esteem can flourish with positive direction, encouragement, and recognition of accomplishments in a non-competitive environment. Gymnastics also prepare children for learning by building listening skills: learning to follow directions and sequencing, and to develop spatial orientation. Such skills are developed through experience and learned primarily through their bodies. Strong foundations in these skills are prerequisite to learning and ensure greater academic success.
