Preschool: 2 yr , 3 yr, and 4/5yr Pre-Kindergarten
28 months – 5 years
We offer energetic and educational programs designed to prepare children with the skills and attitudes necessary for kindergarten success. Our goals are to nourish each child’s creativity, build self-esteem, promote positive social interaction, and to impart a love for reading and learning.
- We plan and post weekly and/or monthly curriculum, based on the HighScope Curriculum™ guidelines, so that parents can follow along and reinforce lessons with their children at home.
- The HighScope Curriculum emphasizes adult-child interaction, a carefully designed learning environment, and a plan-do-review process that strengthens initiative and self-reliance in children. Teachers and students are active partners in shaping the educational experience.
- Daily activities include circle time, art, science, math, (pre)writing, reading, blocks, and dramatic play, utilizing indoor and outdoor spaces, our garden, and our park-quality playground. The pre-kindergarten also has cooking and a computer center.
- Indoor and outdoor learning centers are available for free exploration during free choice periods.
- Learning Games™ are used as an integrated assessment tool of child development.
- Children participate in our weekly music and gymnastics classes.
- Teacher-Parent Conferences are conducted twice a year.
- The preschool staff to child ratio is 1 to 7 in the 2.5 year-old class, 1 to 8 in the 3 year-old class, and 1 to 10 in the 4/5 year-old classroom.
